Rabbs defeat Bulldogs, 12-2
Atlanta hosted rival Queen City on Mar. 23, and came out on top 12-2 in five innings of play. The Rabbs were up 2-0 after the first inning but Queen City tied things up in the second after plating two runs of its own.
Atlanta went on to score 10 runs, including a 5-run fifth, which ended the game directly.
Will Woodruff pitched a gem as he only gave up one hit and struck out eight.
Woodruff was also fire from the plate as he went 3-for-4 with a triple and had one RBI, Cooper McClure added a single, a double and two RBIs, Kale Carpenter hit a single and had a RBI, Nick Burden hit a double and had a RBI, Dex Ebarb was 2-for-3 with three ribbies and Brennan Gaston ripped a double and had a RBI.
For the Bulldogs, Clint Wiley hit a single and both Clayton Whittenburg and Mason Stringer had one RBI apiece.
Lady Tigers thump Maud, 17-2
Linden-Kildare’s softball squad beat Maud 17-2 on Mar. 23.
The Lady Cardinals took a 1-0 lead after the first frame but L-K scored 17 runs in just three innings which invoked the mercy rule.
Haley Mason scattered six hits over three innings and struck out two, and freshman hurler Zaliyah Mitchell sat down all three batters she faced in the top of the fourth.
Sydney Hampton hit a homerun, her first-ever, and had three RBIs, Kaycee Neville was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, Alivia Carlisle hit a single, two doubles and had four ribbies, Ashtin Patterson hit a double and a triple and had a RBI, Mason added a single and a RBI, Kyndal Fitts was 3-for-3 with a ribeye and Sophia Hampton hit a single and had a RBI.
Tigers steamroll Indians, 13-1
Linden-Kildare’s baseball team beat Avinger 13-1 on Mar. 21.
Maysen Lemmon was masterful on the hill as he scattered three hits and struck out 11 batters.
Jackson Lee put the Tigers on the board first as he singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
L-K notched five runs in the third inning which started by Carter Foreman hitting a single and Jonathan Owen smashing a double.
Asher Wells and Foreman each had two hits in the contest.
L-K slams Detroit, 26-0
Linden-Kildare’s baseball squad ripped Detroit 26-0, on Mar. 25. The Tigers were up 11-0 after four innings but put up 15 runs in the fifth frame en route to a big win.
Trey Phillips and Hugh Tyson combined for a no-hitter. Phillips struck out seven and Tyson sat down two.
Kyler Fitts hit a double and a triple and had two RBIs, Jackson Lee was 4-for-5 with a double and three ribbies, Asher Wells had a hit and a RBI, Carter Foreman was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Ethan Churchman had a RBI, Tyson had a hit and two RBIs, Jonathan Owen had a couple of hits with two RBIs, Logan Hankins had two hits with two ribeyes, Max Belford added three RBIs, Maysen Lemmon had two hits with two RBIs and Phillips had three knocks and three RBIs.
Lady Bulldogs edge Lady Rabbs, 9-8
Atlanta and Queen City faced off against one another on the softball field on Mar. 23.
The Lady Bulldogs controlled the game early after putting up three runs in the first frame.
Atlanta scored one run in the bottom half of the first, but QC added four more runs by the sixth inning and had a commanding 7-1 lead.
The Lady Rabbs plated two runs in the sixth to get within four runs with the score sitting at 7-3.
QC plated a run in the top of the seventh inning to go up 8-3 and needed just three outs to secure a win, but Atlanta scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings.
The Lady Bulldogs scored a run in extras and hung on to win the contest 9-8.
For Atlanta (3-2), Cara Taylor hit a double and a homerun as part of her threehit night and added three RBIs, Tori Clayton was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Allie Jefferson added a single and a RBI and both Sabriiyah Young and Jordan Hodge hit one single each.
Valarie Mason scattered eight hits and struck out two and Hodge gave up no hits and struck out five in relief.
For QC (5-1), Trinity Oden pitched the entire game as she scattered nine hits and struck out four.
Brenna Turbeville hit two singles, Mallori Stringer added a hit and a RBI, Serenity Oden smacked a double, Lauren Carrell hit two singles and had two ribbies, Jacey Cauthorn hit a single and had a RBI and Kelsey Nash added a single.
Queen City steamrolls New Boston, 17-0
Queen City’s softball squad was on a 3-game winning streak going into its battle with New Boston on Mar. 25.
The game was called after four innings as the Lady Bulldogs smoked the Lady Lions 17-0.
QC put up seven runs in the first and nine runs in the second which helped put the game away early.
Trinity Oden pitched a no-hit gem as she struck out eight batters and gave up no hits or walks.
Brenna Turbeville was 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs, Oden added two ribbies, Serenity Oden hit a single and had a RBI, Lauren Carrell smacked a double, Laurel Moore was 2-for-2 with three ribeyes, Jacey Cauthorn added a single and a RBI and Erica Lavoie bashed two singles and had two RBIs.
Bloomburg on an 8-game winning streak
The Lady Wildcats are starting to heat up on the diamond.
After losing to Hooks, a team that as of this article is 15-1, by a narrow margin of 7-6 on Mar. 1, Bloomburg has won 10 of its last 11 games including eight straight.
After that loss to Hooks the Lady ’Cats toasted Maud 25-0 by scoring 15 runs in the first inning and 10 runs in the second.
Corinne Ray hit a double as part of her 2-for-4 game and accumulated six RBIs, Katie Mote hit a single and had four ribbies, Kaleigh Glasgow had a hit and two RBIs, Cassie Glasgow had a hit and a RBI, Sunni Blizzard hit a single and had three ribeyes, Emalee Blizzard added a double, a single and recorded three RBIs and Skyler Newell hit a double a single and recorded three RBIs.
That game was followed up with an 8-0 win over Overton on Mar. 3. Corinne Ray was absolutely dominant in that contest as she struck out 10 batters and gave up no hits.
Katie Mote had three hits in the game and Skyler Newell had two hits.
The only loss on this stretch was a 5-4 defeat to county foe and rival McLeod on Mar. 3. In that game Corinne Ray struck out six batters and hit a double as part of her 2-hit game. Emalee Blizzard also had two hits.
On Mar. 4, the Lady Wildcats beat Detroit 6-0, behind Corrine Ray’s 12 strikeout masterpiece.
Ray only gave up two hits in the match and was 3-for-3 from the dish which included a homerun and a RBI.
Jolie Greer added three hits and three RBIs and Jaysi Pond hit two singles.
On Mar. 14, Bloomburg edged Bradley, Ark., 7-5, by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Corrine Ray struck out 12 batters and Jaysi Pond struck out five.
Emalee Blizzard had three hits which included a double and two ribbies and Sunni Blizzard hit two singles.
On Mar. 17, the Lady ’Cats topped Emerson, Ark., 12-2, with Jaysi Pond striking out six batters while only giving up two hits. Pond hit a double in the contest and Corinne Ray hit a triple.
On Mar. 18, Bloomburg got its revenge for an earlier loss to McLeod as the Lady Wildcats won 11-1.
Corinne Ray gave up six hits and struck out six. She also hit a homer and had three RBIs and Jaysi Pond added a double, a single and two RBIs.
On Mar. 19, the Lady Wildcats beat Foreman, Ark., 3-2 and Arkansas High 13-6 to win the D-Mac tourney.
Against Foreman, Corinne Ray struck out five batters and both Sunni Blizzard and Katie Mote hit singles.
Against Arkansas High, Bloomburg was down 6-2 going into the fifth frame, but an 11-run window propelled the Lady ’Cats to victory.
Corinne Ray only gave up a hit and sat down 13 batters in the contest. Haylee Breedlove and Emalee Blizzard hit doubles in the game. Everyone on the roster had a RBI except the aforementioned players who had two apiece.
On Mar. 23, Bloomburg shutout James Bowie 11-0, behind Jaysi Pond’s five K night.
Pond also hit two doubles and had three RBIs from the dish, Corinne Ray hit two dubs and had four ribeyes, Sunni Blizzard hit a double and had a RBI, Katie Mote added a hit, Kaleigh Glasgow had a hit and a RBI, Cassie Glasgow had a hit, Haylee Breedlove had a hit and Emalee Blizzard had a hit and a RBI.
Bloomburg’s softball team scored four runs in the first inning and went on to beat county foe Linden-Kildare 6-3 on Mar. 25.
Corinne Ray scattered three hits over seven innings and struck out four. Ray also hit a double, a homerun and had two RBIs from the plate.
Jaysi Pond added a homerun and a single with two ribbies, Kaleigh Glasgow hit a RBI double, Skyler Newell hit a double, Audree Jones added a single and Alexis Powell had a RBI.
Haley Mason gave up six hits and struck out seven batters over six innings.
Kaycee Neville hit a double, Kyndal Fitts hit a triple, Alivia Carlisle hit a RBI single, Mason hit a single and Sophia Hampton hit two singles and had two RBIs.
