Daimion Collins will return to Kentucky for year two
The Kentucky Wildcats’ men’s basketball team will always be considered one of the blueblood programs of the NCAA.
Kentucky, along with Kansas, North Carolina and Duke, are the cream of the crop when it comes to College Basketball royalty.
Kentucky has an amazing tradition, passionate fans and has produced iconic NBA players.
As an assurance to make sure he’s ready for that big step to NBA one day, former Atlanta Rabbit and current Kentucky Wildcat, Daimion Collins, recently announced he will return for a second year.
In a time where players take off for the NBA after one season in college or hit the transfer portal, Collins is trusting the growth process put forth by the Wildcats’ coaching staff.
Collins played in 27 games this season and averaged about 7.5 minutes a game which is normal for most freshman ballers.
Collins had a field goal percentage of 57.7 (30-of- 52) and a free throw percentage of 85.7 (18-of-21).
The big man for Big Blue ripped down 55 rebounds (18 offensive/37 defensive), had 20 blocks, six steals, four assists and 78 points.
A sea of maroon and white fans plus blue and white fans hoped to see Collins make his way onto the court more this season especially during one of the most prolific tournaments in all of sports – March Madness.
Unfortunately the Wildcats were bounced from the tourney earlier than expected by upstart St. Peters out of New Jersey.
Kentucky finished the 2021-22 regular season with a 26-7 record, the 39th season in school history that the Wildcats have won at least 25 games and the 11th time in 13 seasons under Coach John Calipari.
With his work ethic and athleticism, and if the cards fall just right, we should see him in the starting five for the Wildcats next year.
