Where is my Pastor?

Jesus told a parable that is recorded in the book of Matthew and in the book of Luke of a shepherd that would leave the ninety nine sheep to go and look for one that was lost.

This story serves as a reminder of the importance of loving all one hundred, that none should be lost, and that we must be willing to fight all odds to recover that lost sheep.

That one lost sheep can represent a lot of different wayfaring souls that need to return to a loving and forgiving Christ. A Savior that is more than willing to mend and restore. The fact is this one sheep needs a shepherd.

While we may sit and wonder who this one lost sheep is, and even pray that the Lord would lead us to that lost lamb. I wonder could it just be that the one lost lamb is the family of the shepherd?

How easy it can be, and I speak from conviction and experience that a shepherd (Pastor) can get so wrapped up in the needs of the church that he forgets to be a pastor to his own family. I wonder how many kids raised up in pastor’s homes grow up thinking, Where is my Shepherd? Where is my Pastor?

I love the ministry and I love being a pastor, I love the church and I love being there for the church.

I am nothing on my own, I am very aware of that fact. But it is my prayer as my kids grow and mature, and as my wife and I gracefully age together, Lord let me not forget that the “99” are so very important, and just as I am a pastor to them I also have “ones” in my own home that desperately need a shepherd that will fight all odds through the power of the Holy Spirit to keep them in the flock.
