Thompson celebrates 50-year career
Not many people these days can boast of staying at the same job or company much longer than 20 years; Rarer still are employees that stick around past the 30-year mark. But this week, Carolyn Thompson is celebrating 50 years of coming to work in the same building.
She was a young mother of two that hadn’t worked much before starting her banking career in the loan department at First National Bank of Atlanta. Now Carolyn is the branch manager.
“For a while we went through several different owners, but when First National Bank of Hughes Springs bought us it settled down. They are wonderful to work for,” said Carolyn. “I love getting to know my customers. I’ve had three generations of some families in here.”
As a testament to the pleasant work environment, Diane Endsley is celebrating 30 years with the company and Windy Kendrick has been there for 27 years.
“I’ve watched Carolyn keep stepping up over the years,” said Endsley. “We have a real open, relaxed relationship. She is easy to work for.”
The bank will be honoring Carolyn’s milestone with a reception in the bank lobby on Louise Street this Friday, March 18, 2022. The public is invited to stop by to offer congratulations.
With no eminent plans to retire, Carolyn enjoys her job and spending time with her family. She has two daughters – Dewanna Sanders lives here and Denesha Brodback lives in Lubbock. Carolyn has five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
