QC, Bloomburg track stars compete at Pewitt

Queen City and Bloomburg track and field teams took part in the Doug Sibley Relays hosted by Paul Pewitt on Mar. 4.

Queen City

For the varsity boys’, QC placed second behind 4A Pittsburg.

In the 100m dash Jeremiah Drayton placed first at 11.52, in the 200m dash Manasseh Drayton placed third at 23.70 and Quiyon Ellison placed third at 17.86 in the 100m hurdles and sixth in the 300m hurdles at 48.39.

The 4x100m relay team of Drayton, Drayton, Trent Granberry and Nicolas Herring placed third at 45.20, the 4x200m relay team of Drayton, Drayton, Granberry and Kaden Fincher placed third at 1:39.13 and the 4x400m relay team of Ellison, Fincher, Granberry and Herring placed fifth at 3:59.33.

In field events, Manasseh Drayton placed first in high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 2 inches, Ellison placed third in triple jump at 40 feet, 9 inches and Cedric Davis placed first in shot at 44 feet, 5 inches and fourth in discus at 1-3 feet, 7 inches.

For the varsity girls’, the Lady Bulldogs finished first overall.

In the 200m dash Serenity Oden placed fourth at 29.88, in the 400m dash Brooke Garner placed third at 1:08.53 and Oden placed fourth at 1:10.34, in the 1600m run Erica Lavoie placed sixth at 6:59.13, in the 3200m run Keri Fomby placed third at 14:45.32, in the 100m hurdles Taylor Ward placed fifth at 21.00 and in the Toni McCellon placed first in the 300m hurdles at 50.75.

The 4x100m relay team of Nyla Harrison, Mc-Cellon, Cassidy Johnson and Oden placed second at 52.64, and the 4x200m relay team of Harrison, Johnson, Garner and Sailor Yount placed second at 1:55.90.

In long jump McCellon placed fourth at 14 feet, 6 inches and Garner placed sixth at 14 feet, 2 1/2 inches, in high jump McCellon placed first at 5 feet, 2 inches, in triple jump last year’s state qualifier Cassidy Johnson placed first at 34 feet, 8 1/2 inches and teammate Harrison placed second at 33 feet, 4 inches, in discus Laterica Jackson placed fourth at 77 feet, 1 inch and Chyna Stiger placed third in shot with a toss of 33 feet, 4 1/2 inches and second in discus with a heave of 90 feet, 3 1/2 inches.

For the JV boys’, QC placed third overall.

In the 200m dash Delvon Federick placed third at 25.39, in the 400m dash Isaac Thomas placed sixth at 1:00.25, in the 800m run Thomas placed sixth at 2:33.50, in the 1600m run Timothy Brady placed fifth at 6:09.95, in the 3200m run Brady placed second at 13:23.50 and in the 110m hurdles Sebastian Aleman placed sixth at 22.07.

The 4x100m relay team of Federick, Brandon Harwell, Christian Nard and Gatlin Surratt placed third at 48.37, the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed third at 1:45.00 and the 4x400m relay team of Aleman, Bryce Belk, Brady and Harwell placed third at 4:11.67.

Federick placed first overall in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 10 1/4 inches and first in the triple jump at 39 feet, 4 1/2 inches, Lajavion Martin placed first in high jump at 5 feet, 7 inches, Thomas placed third in pole vault at 9 feet, Jeremiah Henderson was fourth at 9 feet, Hunter Parker was fifth at 8 feet, 6 inches, Keidie Harrison placed fourth in discus at 81 feet and Tyson bell and Noah Williams placed 4-5 in shot with tosses of 33 feet, 5 inches and 32 feet, 5 inches respectively.

Bloomburg

Last year Jacee Glasgow burned the track up in the 100m hurdles and became Bloomburg’s first-ever Lady Wildcat state qualifier after placing first overall at Regionals. Glasgow placed first overall in the 100m hurdles in the Doug Sibley Relays with a time of 18.34. Cassie Glasgow competed in the triple jump where she placed sixth at 30 feet, 4 inches.
