Lady Rabbs

Atlanta’s softball squad opened its season Feb. 15, against a tough Marshall team.

The Lady Mavericks scored early and often as they built a, 7-0, lead after three innings.

The Lady Rabbs made a furious rally near the end but not enough to overcome the early deficit as Marshall won the contest, 8-4.

Cara Taylor had a couple of hits with one of those being a triple, Tori Clayton had an RBI triple, Jordan Hodge had a couple of hits with one of those being a homerun, Coty Hall posted a single, Valarie Mason added an RBI and Hannah Wall had an RBI single.

Hodge gave up eight hits but struck out nine from the circle and Mason pitched in relief.

Tigers

Linden-Kildare’s baseball team scrimmaged Daingerfield last week and won convincingly, 10-1.

Kyler Fitts, Peyton Foreman, and Carter Foreman were lights out from the hill as they, combined, gave up one earned run, one double and a single. They combined for 16 strikeouts.

Hitting-wise the Tigers were led by T.J. Patterson with a double and a single, and both Asher Wells and Kyler Fitts had a base hit apiece.

Coach Sean Baskin had this to say about the team’s initial start to the season.

“The guys grew a lot and learned a lot about the game tonight. We are looking forward to getting everyone at practices and we’re looking forward to scrimmaging Hooks.

Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers opened its season in booming fashion as they crushed Union Hill, 23-0.

Ashtin Patterson got the momentum going early with a diving catch in the outfield. L-K’s bats stayed hot all night long and they ran the bases very well.

Hayley Mason and Zaliyah Mitchell both pitched two innings each and did a really good job.
