Wine, women and weapons

Editor’s Note: Sunday, March 6, 3:00 p.m. at the Linden Public House, Middle of the Road Mom Productions and Dark Horse Coffee will be hosting an event for ladies that will introduce ladies to firearms in a relaxed setting while enjoying the company of other women.

Have you heard the term, “pushing up daisies”? It’s unconfirmed, but this terms’ origins may possibly be tied closely to the direct aftermath of any situation that involved “mansplaining”...

Mansplaining, according to the Urban Dictionary, is “when a man explains something, typically, to a woman in a patronizing tone as if the woman is too emotional and illogical to understand.” That’s always a fun time and works so well, right ladies?

With that in mind, when a husband/father/brother/boyfriend/etc. tries to mansplain their wife/daughter/sister/ girlfriend/etc - about something as important as firearm safety - it does not always work out great. Both parties may not walk away happy at their newfound understanding of firearms and with a strengthened, solid, relationship. And while that’s not everyone, the involuntary eye twitch and immediate jump in blood pressure says this is some of y’all.

Here is a great option - a lady’s day with guns and wine! Yes, you read that correct.

It is an afternoon put on by ladies and for ladies. Less classroom, more conversation, and a glass of wine, or two. No menfolk allowed. Firearms are not needed, there will be several onsite. Everything will be unloaded, no live ammo allowed. If you do bring your own, it will need to be locked in your vehicle while we are inside. Once we move outside, they can be handled but again, no live ammo.

Ms. Natalie Gorman is the owner of the Linden Public House, and she has offered her beautiful, historical restaurant for us to come and spend the afternoon. She is also a retired Marine and very supportive of giving women a comfortable place to learn more about firearms and safety. Our speaker will be Ms. Renee Murphy. She is prior PD and very engrained in our community. She is an amazing lady, and we are excited to have her be a part of this day.

Please RSVP as space will be limited. The cost is $20 per person and includes two glasses of wine. Coffee, soda, water will also be provided. Appetizers are included but Ms. Natalie will keep the kitchen open for full menu orders at your cost. For any questions or to RSVP, please call or message 903.634.7626.
