Local lifters compete in FCA Liftoff event

On Jan. 22, powerlifters from Atlanta, Linden-Kildare and Queen City competed in the FCA Liftoff hosted by Texas High School.

There were 24 schools present and nearly 200 lifters involved. Both Atlanta and Queen City had boys and girls competing.

Atlanta

For Atlanta, Avery Whitlow placed third in the 132-pound weight class with a total of 880 pounds lifted, Josiah Hunt placed seventh in the 132’s with a total of 715 pounds lifted, Austin Phelps placed eighth in the 148’s with a total of 705 pounds lifted, Kyle Gross placed third in the 181’s with a total lift of 1,120 pounds, Xavier Nash placed eighth in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 965, Jaymari Howard placed 15th in the 181’s with a total of 845, Taiwon Henderson had a total of 635 pounds lifted in the 181’s, Dylan Savage had a total of 555 pounds lifted in the 181’s, Wesley Kennedy placed 12th in the 198’s with a total of 920 pounds lifted, Curtis Sellers lifted 720 pounds total in the 220-pound weight class, Marcellous Kirk lifted 675 pounds total in the 220’s, Jaden Wells placed fourth in the 242’s with a total of 1,310, Adrick Patterson placed 18th in the 242’s with a total of 865 pounds, Cortes Carlos placed 10th in the 275-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,120 pounds, Davonne Crocker lifted 965 pounds total in the 275’s, Garrett Tilley lifted 685 pounds total in the 275’s and Corbyn Wilson placed ninth overall in the 308’s with a total lift of 910 pounds.

Wells is fourth in the region in his weight class.

Derronica Tarleton placed 15th in her class with 405 pounds total lifted, Anna Daniels placed 12th in her class with a total of 480 pounds, Reaganne Molina and A’nessa Smith placed 5-6 in their class with lifts of 475 and 470 respectively and Rylie Wilson placed seventh in her class with a total lift of 345 pounds.

Queen City

For QC, Delvon Federick placed fifth in the 165-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,065 pounds, Kaden Satterfield placed 10th in the 165’s with a total lift of 1,000 pounds, Christian Nard placed 12th in the 165’s with a total of 990 pounds, Timothy Brady lifted 660 pounds total in the 165-pound weight class, Clint Wooding placed 13th in the 181’s with a total of 885 pounds, Brandon Harwell placed 16th in the 220’s with a total of 845 pounds, Tyson Bell lifted 865 pounds total in the 242-pound weight class, Daniel Jones placed 12th in the 275’s with a total lift of 1,095 pounds, Rhyen Pope placed fourth overall in the 308’s with a total lift of 1,250 pounds and Cedric Davis placed first overall in the Super Heavyweights class with a total lift of 1,590 pounds.

Davis is first in the region in his weight class.

Courtney Price placed ninth in her class with a total lift of 460 pounds, Emma Baker placed 10th in her class with a total of 510 pounds, Erica Lavoie placed 10th in her class with a total lift of 535 pounds, Halle Worthington placed 13th in her class with a total lift of 460 pounds, Ruby McCasland lifted 460 pounds total and Aubrie Kiser placed fifth in her class with a total lift of 565 pounds.

Linden-Kildare

Michael Lane is not new to powerlifting. He finished 11th in the entire state last year.

Lane finished fourth in the 132’ with a total lift of 880 pounds. Teammate Aidan Hernandez is new to the sport and did well as he placed seventh in the 181’s with a total of 970 pounds.

Lane is first in the region in his weight class.
