Freeze closes area schools
Area schools and colleges were canceled Friday, February 4 on Thursday in anticipation of inclement weather. Weather forecasters expected the possibility of icy streets and freezing temperatures. Cass County experienced rain most of the day on Thursday afternoon, leaving the possibility of icy streets Friday.
On Friday residents woke up to a light dusting of snow, nowhere near last years “snowpocolypse” in February that brought 18 inches of snow shutting down everything for days. On Friday there was a low of 29 degrees, bringing slick roads in some locations. In two the roads were relatively clear. The forecast expects warmer weather this week even hitting a high on Friday of 70 degrees before dropping back down over the weekend.
