Changes in sherriff’s department
There have been a number of changes over the last couple of weeks at the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office. Two new deputies were hired, two people have retired and one has been promoted.
Joshuah Kauffman and Gannon Tiller are newly recruited deputies. Kauffman recently graduated from Tarrant County Police Academy, and Tiller comes from East Texas Police Academy.
Roy Barker was one of the two people retiring from the Department. On December 31 Barker retired from his job after 29 years on the force. Barker spent 20 years as a constable in precinct one, and nine years as a deputy.
Linda Manley retired on January 31 after working for 14 years in the county. Manley spent one year in the District Attorney’s Office and 13 years in the Cass County Detention’s office. Cass County Sherriff Larry Rowe, says both will be missed.
Sergeant Roy Bloodworth was promoted to Chief Deputy. He will be filling Barker’s absence after retirement.
