Our Father
When we gather as brothers and sisters in the Lord we are a spiritual family. One with Christ. You can call it a family reunion. When we meet for church it’s a family reunion. When we meet for prayer it’s a family reunion. When we meet for Bible study it’s a family reunion. Where two or three are gathered in Jesus’ Name it’s a family reunion.
Psalms 133:1 - Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
The Father wants us to be like-minded and unified in His name!
1 Corinthians 1:10 - Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
In Jesus we are sisters and brothers from different mothers but we have the same Father.
Ephesians 4:2-6 says - With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
What a blessing to be one with the Father! We are wonderfully made creations of our Father. When we are saved by His Grace we become His saints, joint heirs, children of God, the body of Christ, the church, the Bride.
Romans 8:16-17 - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Ephesians 5:30 - For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
And at the head of it all is our Father! He is the Godhead! He is the focal point! He dwells in us! He is found when we seek Him! We can’t do anything without Him! All of our focus should be on Him!
Acts 17:24-28 says - God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being.
In the Bible fathers are shown to be providers, disciplinarians and the ultimate authority in the family dynamic. And almost everything the Lord says has a two-part meaning. One for the natural side of our being and one for the spiritual side.
There is so much more that could be said about our Father! We cannot praise Him enough and I’m glad that I can call Him my Father! He desires us all to do so!
John 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
He has made us family in Jesus’ Name! We are one in Him! He is to be exalted!
John 10:27-28 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
All of this was made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins on the cross.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
