Current Brooklyn Nets Head Coach and former NBA basketball player Steve Nash once said, “We were excited to win, staying undefeated is just the icing.”

No doubt each time the Atlanta Lady Rabbits’ volleyball team won a contest they were excited to win, but becoming the first-ever squad in school history to finish district play 12-0 is the icing Nash described.

The Lady Rabbs sealed its unforgettable season in the history books last Friday night as they topped Hooks in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-12.

Destinee Wells posted seven points, one ace, six digs and two kills; Kaylon Partain added three points, one ace, 11 digs and four kills; Alley Jefferson had five points, three aces and seven digs; AnneMarie Hanner recorded six points, two aces, seven digs and 11 assists; Rylie Pattillo published nine points, two aces, three digs and 16 assists; Cara Taylor had eight points and six digs; Sabriiyah Young had four kills; Kym Sheppard added 12 kills and four blocks; JaNeisha Fields had four kills, two blocks and two digs and Jaliyah Brown posted two kills and two digs.

Atlanta’s last loss was back in early September. Since then the Lady Rabbits have a 14-game winning streak going and have won 17 of its past 18 contests.

The Lady Rabbs battled Mineola in the first round of the playoffs Monday night after we went to press.
