Atlanta Middle School Rabbs dominate New Boston Lions

The Atlanta Middle School football program dominated New Boston last week in district action.

Atlanta won the seventh grade A game 32-6.

In the first quarter, Keegan Lloyd raced to the end zone on a 41-yard jaunt and he also ran in the 2-point play to put the Rabbs up 8-0.

After the defense stood the task of stopping the Lions’ ball control offense, Atlanta took control of the ball and drove deep into Lion territory to end the quarter.

In the second quarter, TJ Hamilton had a 23-yard blast for a touchdown. He also added the 2-point run to push the Rabbs’ lead to 16-0.

After another defensive standout, the Rabbs’ next drive ended on an interception but it wouldn’t take long for the Rabbs to answer.

Liam McKinney completed a nice pass for 12 yards to Easton Owens to extend the drive and on the next play Hamilton took it in from 24 yards out. He also ran in the 2-point play to make it 24-0.

In the third quarter, the Rabbs stalled and New Boston completed a long pass which set up a short run for a score to make it 24-6.

The Rabbs answered quickly with a 53-yard sprint to the endzone by Loyd. Hamilton added the 2-point play which made the score 32-6.

In the fourth quarter, Kyson Sherman intercepts a Lion pass sealing the victory for the Rabbs. Aiden Eason had a fumble recovery in the game and both Jaylen Finley and Jayden Smith stood out on defense.

The Rabbs won the eighth grade A game 44-12 after starting off the game slow.

In the first quarter, it was a sloppy start for the Rabbs as New Boston picked off a pass on its first drive and later scored to go up 6-0.

On the following kickoff the Lions recovered the onside kick and threatened to score again but couldn’t get into the endzone.

In the second quarter the Rabbs run wild. Marshawn Woodberry capped a nice drive off with an 18-yard run for a score to tie things up at 6-6.

Atlanta’s defense stood tall and the Rabbs put together another impressive drive.

Kayden Linwood raced around the right end from 19-yards out and into the end zone. Riley added the 2-point play making it 14-6.

Once again the Rabbs defense stood stall, forcing another three-and-out.

A big completion from Riley to Kayden Price set the Rabbs up in Lion territory. Riley capped the drive off with a nice 35-yard scamper for a touchdown.

Riley completed the 2-point pass to Eli Mitchell bringing the score to 22-6.

Atlanta pulled a rabbit out of the hat on the kickoff and recovered the onside kick with less than a minute to go.

Before the half ends, Riley handed the rock off to Linwood, who handed it to Eli Mitchell, who found Riley wide open for a 49-yard touchdown go close the half. Linwood added the 2-point run to push the score to 30-6.

In the third quarter, the clock ran most of the second half. The Lions’ opening drive lasted four minutes but netted negative yardage, and the Rabbs took over inside the five of New Boston.

The Lions made it tough on the Rabbs as it took five plays to score, but Riley would finally find the endzone on an 8-yard run. Toddy Webster added the 2-point run on an end around which made the score 38-6.

In the fourth quarter there wasn’t much action due to running clock but Jayden Riley would add another big highlight on an 80-yard punt return which pushed the score to 44-6.

New Boston added a score in the final seconds which set the final score at 44-12.

Nate Hernandez, Brennon Allen and Derryck Prounh stood out on defense.
