American Legion hosts speakers
On Oct. 11, the American Legion Post 258 hosted two Texas State Leaders, Robert and Barbie Rohde, from the veteran non-profit organization, Mission 22. Mission 22 is headquartered out of Sisters, Oregon and provides veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) with information, resources and more to reduce the increasingly rate of veteran suicide equalling 22 veterans a day! Mission 22 is an all volunteer program and accepts donations to operate; $0.87.5 per $1 of your donation goes directly to their programs.
Programs include:.
- Recovery + Resiliency Program: Recovery + Resiliency is a tiered program for Veterans and their spouses that combines timeless principles of human healing with modern science.
- Wellness Program: Mission 22 has partnered with Amare to provide FREE mental wellness supplements to combat veterans, those injured in training who therefore could not deploy or those affected by MST.
- Rock Climbing & Mental Training Program: The Warrior’s Way(r) and Mission 22 are partnering to provide rock climbing mental training programs for veterans and their families to diminish veteran suicide rates and build resilient families.
- Crossfit, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Judo Sponsorships: If you or someone you know needs help funding training or if your gym wants to become a partner gym, please contact us.

During their visit with Post 258, Robert and Barbie shared the unfortunate story of their son, Sgt Cody Bowman, who committed suicide in 2019. At the time, Cody was a SSgt promotable and stood up the Wounded Warrior Project at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
Mission 22 and the American Legion Post 258 are currently partnered together in a fundraiser, “Holiday Cash Raffle” where tickets can be purchased for $1 via debit/ credit card at post258.ticketleap.com. The winner will be pulled on Monday, November 15th just after 7:00 p.m. CST. Ticket sales will end at 7:00 p.m. CST in order to allow us to tally and have the random name generator “pull” the winner.
