Linden PD receives training for life-saving devices
Chief Eric Lee announced that on September 14th, 2021 Linden Police Department Officers received training at Christus St. Michael Hospital Atlanta for CPR and AED.
“The training was in line with the Department’s Best Practices to have its Officers certified in CPR and the use of AED. The Department recently purchased four Zoll AED Plus Semi-Auto Units with CPR-ready Kits. The total cost of the devices and training was $4850.00,” says Lee. “A price well worth the opportunity for one of our Officers to be able to save one life in our community.”
“Four of our primary patrol units will have the units in them. I’d like to thank Christus St. Michael and their Clinical Educator Deborah Hughes, RN, CDE. She is an Instructor for Christus St. Michael Hospital for Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Diabetic training. She instructed five of our officers in CPR and the AED use.
“The officers successfully completed the cognitive and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) and the AED Program. The AED units are currently available for use in Linden’s patrol Units.
For Lee, having his officers ready to help when a need arises is important. “The Linden Police Department is trained in the deployment of the AED is very beneficial to the citizens in our community.”
“We now possess the capability to assist all in the event someone goes into cardiac arrest, adult and child alike. Being read to help those in our community is a priority for public safety and saving lives,” said Lee.
