L-K junior high majorettes prepare for new year
School may be out for the summer, but the Linden-Kildare junior high majorettes wouldn’t know it!
July 12-16 they were at school every day working hard for several hours. It was the week of junior high majorette camp!
They worked fundamental-like tosses, turns and other moves that would leave most of us perplexed and bruised.
Yet they did it all with a smile. “It was fun and tiring” said Kendall Baker through a giggle. “I got frustrated at first but then I got it to work out.” Cadi Belford said “I liked it! It was a lot of fun. We learned different routines and how pep rallies will go.”
But it wasn’t just the junior high majorettes who were at work. All four of the high school majorettes showed up to help.
Freshman Emerson Delese and junior Katie Sellers talked about how the junior high twirlers did really good.
“They learned routines very quick, which is impressive because most of them picked up a baton for the first time just two weeks before auditions last year.”
Mrs. Sellers, the junior high majorette sponsor, spoke about how proud and impressed she is.
“I can’t wait to keep working and improving. They have lots of potential. Plus, it’s the biggest line we’ve had in many years!”
L-K band director Mr. Williams echoed her sentiment. “I’m very impressed with their work ethic and thrilled our older girls are working to pass on the tradition. I’m also thankful Mrs. Sellers is here for them and that Mrs. Lemmon was able to come help. If these girls had to learn this stuff from me, they’d be… well, let’s just not think about that.”
