CELEBRATING 60 YEARS: Bob and Louella Vernon
Fifty years of marriage is a milestone many couples often dream about, but for Bob and Louella Vernon, 50 years and then some is the reality. The couple will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this year in a quiet, private affair due to COVID-19.
A Vietnam U.S. Air Force veteran, Bob Vernon is the son of Robert “Fuzzy” Vernon and Orene Smith who, throughout his life, worked in microelectronics research and development. Louella Vernon is the daughter of Leaford Bivens and Mozelle Wilson and worked as an administrative assistant.
Bob and Louella were married at First Baptist Church in Glen Rose, TX by Rev. John Wheat on May 20, 1961. They have three children together: Donvin Vernon of Stoughton, MA, Nica Carson of Anderson, SC, and DanaLou Paxton of Bivins, TX. They also have six grandchildren.
Throughout their married life, Bob and Louella lived in several states including Texas, Colorado, and Massachusetts. The couple also resided in Japan for a time.
The Vernons are members of First Baptist Church in Atlanta and are active in several organizations and clubs, including the Texas Historical Commission Stewards Program, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, Cass County Genealogical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Huffines Community Club.
The couple currently reside in Bivins, TX.
