Lady Rabbs bow out of playoffs

Atlanta’s softball team had a very successful season and until this past weekend had only lost two games all season long.

After winning a bi-district championship the week prior Atlanta met up with White Oak in the area round of the playoffs May 7-8.

The Lady Rabbs left it all on the field during those two days but exited the playoffs with consecutive losses to the Lady Roughnecks.

Sporting a (22-4-1) record and only graduating one senior the future indeed looks bright for the Lady Rabbits.

Atlanta 3, White Oak 8

In game one of the series, White Oak scored all eight of its runs in four innings en route to an 8-3 win over the Lady Rabbits.

Pitcher Jordan Hodge scattered 10 hits, gave up one earned run and struck out seven from the circle.

Sydni Davis hit an RBI double, Hodge hit an RBI single, Victoria Clayton added a single and Madeline Clayton added a single.

Looking at the Maxpreps schedule Atlanta’s two losses came to a tough Nashville, Ark., team and both of those were close 1-0, 2-0 losses.

White Oak blanked the Lady Rabbs 13-0 in game two of the series and ended the season for Atlanta.

Freshman standout Victoria Clayton, who ended her first-year varsity campaign with 10 homeruns, hit a single in the contest and Madeline Clayton was 2-for-2 in the game.
