Free curbside pickup of bulk waste
On Monday May 10 through Friday may 14, Atlanta City Manager David Cockrell said the city is scheduled in for free curbside pickup of waste materials. According to Cockrell, bulk waste should be limited to about three cubic feet or the size of a truck bed.
“This is a great opportunity to make the community more attractive, get rid of unwanted junk and save money and time by avoiding trips to the landfill,” Cockrell said.
Acceptable items include household furniture, outdoor furniture, clothing, green waste that’s been properly bagged, and sticks and limbs that are bundled and not exceeding four feet.
There are limitations to what can be picked up, however. Pick-up will be limited to three cubic yards which is about the size of a pick-up bed. The City will not accept large electrical appliances such as refrigerators or dishwashers, electronic waste, TVs, tires, paints, oil, batteries, or other hazardous waste.
The City reserves the right to refuse any item deemed to pose a health or safety risk. Unacceptable items will be left on the curb. Bulk waste will be collected at the same time as customers’ polycart is serviced, so all bulk waste materials should be out on the curb before trash trucks arrive.
