Men charged with money laundering, meth possession
Francisco Carrizlez and Doyle Leeroy Greene were taken into custody by Linden police officers for separate charges of Money Laundering and possession of Methamphetamine on March 20 and April 5, respectively. Carrizlez was found to be in possession of $33,500 while Greene was found to be in possession of 632.32 grams of methamphetamine.
On March 20, at around 10:06 p.m., Carrizlez was pulled over in Linden by Officer Cruz for a defective equipment violation. When asked for proof of financial responsibility of the vehicle, Carrizlez reached into the glove box where Cruz observed what he knew to be marijuana and a straight razor. Notifying Carrizlez of the marijuana he had seen, Cruz then conducted a search of the vehicle where marijuana was found on the floorboard and in the vehicle’s engine compartment underneath the engine air filter.
Cruz, noticing indicators of other criminal activities in his search of the vehicle, then asked Carrizlez if he had any weapons, narcotics, or large amounts of cash. Carrizlez stated he had $33,500 in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers Brandon Sumner and Jose Cruz located double vacuum sealed rolls of money in smaller denominations that were placed into plastic bags and hidden in the spare tire well of the vehicle. According to the Linden Police Department, this is a well-known way of disguising money and drugs from Police K9 units and a possible indicator of Money Laundering, Narcotics, Human Trafficking, and other offenses. Officer Cruz and Sumner seized the $33,500 and arrested Carrizlez for the charge of Money Laundering.
On April 5, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Doyle Leeroy Greene was pulled over by Officer Jose Cruz for making an unsafe lane change without a signal light on U.S. Highway 59 South.
When Cruz asked for proof of financial responsibility of the vehicle, Greene stated that he did not have a driver’s license on him and that the vehicle was his girlfriend’s. A scan of the license plates revealed that they were fictitious and belonged to another make of vehicle.
On suspicion of criminal activity, Greene was frisked where knives and Brass Knuckles were found on his person, as well as marijuana in his pockets. Officer Cruz received word from dispatch that the vehicle was stolen from Bossier City, Louisiana. Greene was put in handcuffs and detained.
With the assistance of Sergeant Bud Berry of the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office, a complete inventory was taken of the vehicle. Inside the vehicle was found to be several bags of a crystal like substance which field tested to be Methamphetamine. The weight of Methamphetamine found in the vehicle totaled to 632.32 grams. Greene was arrested and transported to Cass County Jail.
Francisco Carrizlez has since been bonded out of jail. As of April 6, Doyle Leeroy Greene is at Cass County Jail waiting on a bail to be set on Felony 1 Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor B. Possession of Marijuana.
