Atlanta’s King lifts at state, Adams earns All-State honors
Tyrell King tied for fifth in the 308-pound weight class at the Texas High School Powerlifting State Meet held in Abilene on Mar. 27.
Nearly 500 of the strongest lifters in Texas from all classifications converged on the Taylor County Expo Hall to battle for a chance at a state championship in their weight classes.
King squatted 650 pounds, benched 410 and dead lifted a personal-best 605 pounds to finish with a 1665-pound total.
Trey Adams was named to the THSPA Academic All-State First Team.
Both King and Adams are seniors and close out great careers lifting for Atlanta Iron.
“Tyrell and Trey have been a huge part of our program,” Head Coach Craig Fant said. “They have both qualified for region three times, for state twice, and have won both individual and team regional championships. We appreciate their hard work and success and will really miss them.”
