Buzbee represents lawsuit against Houston QB Watson

Attorney Tony Buzbee, originally from the Cass County area, is representing several women in a sexual assault case against Houston Texan’s starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. According to Buzbee’s Facebook page, Buzbee announced that there are currently 14 women who have come forward.

The case has rocked the sports world because of the notoriety of Watson. According to ESPN, one of the lawsuits filed Monday alleges that Watson assaulted a massage therapist in March 2021 by touching her in his private area and exposing himself. Another, also involving a massage parlor, in 2020 claims that Watson assaulted her and tried to get her to perform sex acts on him.

According to Fox News “Watson’s accusers said that “it became apparent that Watson wanted a massage for only one reason – sex...”

Watson in his defense said he had not seen the first lawsuit yet and issued a statement saying. “I have never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect.”

According to the same article on FoxNews.com, it was also reported that on Friday, Watson’s lawyer Rusty Hardin said his client would publicly address the allegations of sexual assault levied against him in the coming days. TMZ Sports reported Saturday that Watson is “adamant” he wasn’t guilty of the graphic allegations.

Also making news, Buzbee, in an Instagram post on Saturday, said that he would submit affidavits and evidence from the several women involved to the Houston Police Department and the Houston district attorney Monday morning. He will also petition a grand jury to consider the evidence to see whether charges should be brought against him.

According to ESPN, Buzbee said Friday was the first time he spoke with any of Watson’s representatives about one of the sexual assault allegations against him that occurred in February.

Brian McCarthy a spokesman for the NFL said “the matter is under review”.

The league has personal conduct policy that Watson may be in violation of. The Texans also issued a statement saying that they would keep in close contact with the NFL throughout the investigation.

“Watson, who inked a four-year extension worth $156 million in 2020, isn’t looking to reach monetary settlements with the women, according to TMZ,” reported Fox News. Watson has also been subject to various trade rumors over the offseason.

Buzbee currently lives and practices law in Houston is no stranger to national cases, winning cases against various oil companies and Ford Motor Company.

Buzbee continues to have a presence here in Cass County, owning and maintaining property here in the County.
