Jail passes re-inspection
The Cass County Jail in Linden recently received a Certificate of Compliance from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for passing its inspection Feb. 23.
Last year the jail failed an inspection for electrical issues involving the generator and fire alarm, but Sheriff Larry Rowe said those issues had been corrected before this year’s inspection.
“The problems that caused inspection failure last year was the main generator that comes on when the power shuts off had issues, we had issues with a fire alarm in the new courthouse and paperwork issues,” Rowe said. “All of those were resolved.”
The certification lasts for one year until the next inspection.
Rowe also mentioned that one way he and his officers are keeping those incarcerated safe during this COVID time is allowing them online/video visits only, but in the near future they will allow families to visit in person under guidelines.
