Rabbs, JV Rabbs place well at Jefferson meet

Atlanta’s boys’ track program has been on a roll to begin the season and has done so without some runners due to the basketball playoffs.

On Mar. 2, the JV Rabbits took part in the Bulldog Relays at Jefferson and Mar. 4, the varsity team competed in the Bulldog Relays.

Varsity

The varsity squad finished behind 4A Center by 11 points with runners out due to the basketball state playoffs.

Atlanta did outdistance 5A Nacogdoches, Tatum, Jefferson, Waskom, McLeod, Winona and Maud.

La’Randion Dowden placed fifth in the 200m dash, Matthew Cauley placed second in the 400m dash and Hudson Hale placed sixth, Xzavian Johnson and Jaquan Robinson placed 1-2 in the 800m run, Noah Dowda placed third in both the 1600m run and 3200m run, Kameron George placed second and Lakecion Matthews sixth in the 110m hurdles and in the 300m hurdles George placed third and Zachariah Jefferson fifth.

In the pole vault Hunter Clayton placed first, Will Porterfield third and Josiah Hunt fourth and in the shotput Tyrell King placed first overall and DK Parker third.

The 4x100m relay of Keith Kinney, Dowden, Parker and Isaiah Henderson placed fourth, the 4x200m relay team of Noah Harris, Kinney, Dowden and Austin Young placed sixth and the 4x400m relay team of Johnson, Robinson, Harris and Cauley placed first overall.

JV

The junior varsity boys placed second overall by just two points but did finish ahead of Jefferson, McLeod and Nacogdoches.

Atlanta notched first place finishes in the 100m and 200m dashes with Zackyus Jackson running the 100 and Jabranden Wells running the 200, Daniel Hernandez placed second, Justin Pierce third and Chris Swanson sixth in the 400m dash, Kolton Gonzales placed second and Alan Leach fourth in the 800m run and Gonzales placed fifth in the 1600m run, Markavion Owens placed third and Lamdon Liggins fifth in the 100m hurdles and in the 300m hurdles Owens placed first and Carmello Henderson fifth.

The 4x100m relay team of Wells, Jackson, Swanson and Isaiah Chandler placed second, the 4x200m relay team of Wells, Swanson, Eli Riojas and Chandler placed second and the 4x400m relay team of Jackson, Riojas, Henderson and Swanson placed first overall.

The Rabbit 4x400 B-Team of Hernandez, Pierce, Chris Swanson and Owens placed third.
