L-K Powerlifting

Linden-Kildare’s powerlifting program traveled to Maud and competed very well Jan. 14. Michael Lane finished in second place in the 132-pound weight class with a 740-pound total. Brent White took first in the 165’s with a total of 985 pounds. Landon Liles took first place in the 275-pound weight class with a finishing total of 1,315.

L-K 51, Clarksville 40

Linden-Kildare’s boys’ basketball squad battled Clarksville Jan. 15, and rolled to a, 51-40, win.

The Cass County Tigers looked to rebound from a loss to McLeod the prior contest and set the pace early as L-K raced out to a, 10-0, first quarter lead. L-K would took a, 19-9, lead into the halftime break.

The second half heated up as Clarksville pulled within three points with L-K up, 27-24. L-K went on a 5-0 run to boost the score to, 32-24. In the final frame, L-K extended its lead to as much as 15 points and went on to win by 11. Chase Bynum scorched the nets for 22 points, Mason Johnson added 15 and Puff Peters had nine. L-K also received huge reserve contributions from Critter Palmer and Russel Nance.

The win completed a season sweep of Clarksville. L-K pushed its season record to (13-4, 5-2).

No. 6 McLeod 53, Maud 48

McLeod battled Maud Jan. 19, in district play and came out with a, 53-48, win over the Cardinals.

The game was closer than the ’Horns (14-4, 8-0) wanted it to be as the lead was only, 30-22, at the break.

Casey Smith tossed in 16 points, Keldyn Schubert posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists, Nos Gryder had 11 points and seven boards, Nathan parker added six points and Silas Murdock five.

The Longhorns, winners of eight straight, have not lost since Dec. 21, when they played a team out of Arkansas.

The JV boys won, 38-14, with Henry Teer tossing in 14 points and Kannon Dempsey scoring seven.

No. 22 McLeod 52, Maud 16

The Lady Longhorns run its district record to (9-0) after a thorough beatdown of Maud by a score of, 52- 16, Jan. 19.

McLeod was up, 15-0, after the first quarter and had a commanding, 35-2, lead at the break.

Cary May led the Lady Longhorns with 15 points, Kaitlyn Cross added 11, Gracie Lance had nine, Ella Lambeth six, Stormy Johnson four and Sibbie Comer three.

The JV girls won, 28-23, with Cadence Spence pouring in eight points.

Atlanta 44, Redwater 41

The Lady Rabbs’ varsity basketball team edged out Redwater, 44-41, Jan. 19. Kym Sheppard poured in 19 points, Jennifer Easter added eight and Tianna Lawson had eight.

Atlanta 54, Redwater 41

Atlanta’s varsity boys’ basketball team topped Redwater, 54-41, Jan. 19. Daimion Collins had 24 points, Keyshawn Easter nine, Alex Boston seven, Caleb Hamilton seven, Terunte Neal five and Kameron Dickerson two.

MUMS

The Morris Upchurch Middle School girls’ basketball program battled Paul Pewitt Jan. 21. The seventh grade team won, 27-17, with Kerian Thomas leading the way with 17 points, and the eighth grade team won, 32-13, with Brenna Turbeville leading the way with nine points.
