Info for animal owners is available

When veterinarian Dr. Jim Kunkel died of COVID last fall, he left a void in our area, in regard to animal welfare in Cass County. Not only did Dr. Kunkel take care of domestic pets, but he also made house calls for large farm animals and had extensive experience with exotics.

Two women at opposite sides of the county are at tempting to help fill that void with the new Facebook page “Cass County Animal Info.” Animal Control Officer Mitzi Francis handles issues in Bloomburg and Queen City. Jessie Rymel is the Cass County Extension Agent in Linden, and a horse trainer.

The page is designed to be an information outlet where anyone may post animal related questions or offer advice. Posts listing lost or found pets are welcome, as well as cute or interesting pet photos.

While the page is not intended to be a marketplace, the announcement of livestock sales are acceptable as long as transactions are negotiated off the page, in private.

Owners looking for breeder sources, grooming and feeding tips, disease or illness information, feral hog or invasive species eradication sources, and snake identification are all examples of the type of information that can be posted. Farm and animal equipment may be offered for trade or sale, also.

For more information, go to the Facebook page and either post your inquiry or send a message to Mitzi and Jessie.
