Queen City prepares to adopt alcohol zoning ordinance
Queen City councilmembers assembled Dec. 10 for a public hearing regarding the Queen City Planning and Zoning Committee’s proposed residential and commercial rezoning ordinance as it pertains to liquor, beer and wine sales.
There were no comments from the public on the proposal which will be approved at next month’s meeting.
The proposed rezoning ordinance includes seven resolutions that designate certain areas within the city’s limits as commercial property for beer and wine sales and restrict liquor sales to EDC property.
For beer and wine sales, Loop 236 would be zoned entirely as commercial from North Hwy 59 access to South Hwy 59 access and 600 feet on either side of Hwy 59 would be designated commercial running north and south within the city limits.
Beer, wine and liquor sales are restricted to 300 feet on either side of Hwy 96 to County Barn Road and FM 2791 to Corvette Lane within the city limits.
The city council will reconvene Thursday, Jan. 21 to vote on the proposed rezoning ordinance.
