Hot diggity! New businesses arrive in Atlanta

This area is well known for having many local artists and crafters, and that list keeps growing. According to their facebook page, Gypsy Rebellion, owned by newcomer Katie Ray, is all about repurposing and upcycling “old, unused and broken things of this world and turning them into new masterpieces.”

That business, along with sister business Junk in Your Trunk, and OH.vercomer Creations, owned by Katie’s sister Olivia Smith, and their mothers’ business, Serene Design Company, has started a monthly Holly Street Market at 806 Holly Street in Atlanta. The market features these vendors and other local crafting businesses selling handmade clothing, jewelry, thermal cups, furniture, and all manner of gift ideas.

The location, which is locally known as “the little round building close to the high school,” will soon be a fun new restaurant called “Hot Diggity Dog.” Olivia will be offering up different kinds of gourmet hot dogs, sausages, hand-dipped ice cream, fried oreos, handdipped corndogs, fresh fried chips and hamburgers. The eatery will also outdoor seating and games such as corn hole.

“We are a quirky passionate family who has a desire to make our family and our community better,” said Katie. “Coming from a long line of family businesses, we also have an entrepreneur spirit and have chosen to use Holly Street Market as an outlet for ourselves and others to express themselves and bring something great to the community.”

The Ray family recently moved here from their hometown of Paris, Texas. Katie and husband Jeremy have three children: DeaShawn, Jaxxon and Kahmilla Ray.

The Holly Street Market will be holding their second monthly event this week, Friday – Sunday, with lots of Christmas gifts and items. There are still available spaces for vendors. The market will close early on Saturday so that they may participate in the Christmas Parade downtown.

The next market will be held January 10-12. For more information call 903-559-6672 or 903-559-5028.
