Lady Rabbits win bi-district contest against Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill
Atlanta’s varsity volleyball team powered its way to a second place finish in district play this season.
The Lady Rabbits were paired with Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill in the bi-district round of the state playoffs last Thursday evening at Paul Pewitt High School.
Atlanta won the first set, 25-13, but the Lady Red Devils took set two, 25-14.
The Lady Rabbs closed out its first playoff win since 2007 by taking both set three and set four by scores of, 25-20, 25-15.
Callie Dyer racked up 36 service points with six aces, Annemarie Hanner added 23 service points with an ace, Destinee Wells had nine points, Cara Taylor added six points with an ace, Kaylon Partain posted five points with three aces, Tianna Lawson recorded five points with eight kills and three blocks, Jennifer Easter had two kills, Sabriiyah Young had two aces and Kym Sheppard had 15 kills and four blocks.
Atlanta played state-ranked Sabine in the area round at 7 p.m. Monday night in Hallsville.
