Bulldogs fall to Elysian Fields in first district game

Queen City traveled to Elysian Fields last Friday night for its first district contest.

Coming into the game the Bulldogs were 3-0 with wins over rival Linden-Kildare, Union Grove and Quitman.

QC was down only 7-6 after the first quarter of play but a 33-point outburst for the Yellowjackets in the second quarter set the tone as Elysian Fields went on to win 54-12.

First Quarter

Elysian Fields scored near the 3:30 mark on a long touchdown pass and after the point after led 7-0.

The Bulldogs answered a little over two minutes later when standout quarterback Alex Shelton scored on a 5-yard run.

The PAT was no good but the score was set at 7-6 with 1:09 left in the first quarter.

Second Quarter

The Yellowjackets posted 33 points in the second frame and took a 40-6 lead into the break.

Third Quarter

Braeden Yancey, in at QB, made a nifty completion to Damir Rascoe for a 20-yard touchdown.

The kick was no good and Elysian Fields had a 40-12 lead with just over a minute left in the third stanza.

The Yellowjackets scored once more during the period and pushed the score to 47-12 going into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Elysian Fields scored once more late and added the PAT which made the score 54-12.

Queen City rolled up just over 200 total yards in the game.

Seventy-five of those yards were on the ground with Menassah Drayton racking up 71 of those.

Shelton scored the rushing touchdown in the game and had a little over 100 yards passing on the night.

Yancey added a passing touchdown and accumulated 28 yards through the air, and Rascoe had 123 yards receiving with a score.

The Bulldogs host New Diana this Friday night with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
