Atlanta Middle School battles Gilmer, Liberty-Eylau

7B/8B
Both the Atlanta Middle School 7B and 8B football teams defeated Gilmer a couple of weeks back.
For the 7B team, Cullen Duhon, Marshawn Woodberry and Tevin Thursby all scored on long runs.
In the 8B game Juan Campos and Eli Mitchell scored touchdowns. Cason Whatley was 3-for-5 passing. Brady Partain caught a nice pass for a 17- yard gain in the 8B game.
7A
In the 7A game the Rabbs rolled the Buckeyes 32- 14. Quarterback Jayden Riley had a big night from the opening kick. Riley returned the opening kickoff 67 yards for a touchdown.
Later in the first quarter Riley took the ball around the left end, broke multiple tackles and waltzed into the end zone. Still in the first quarter Riley completed a nice deep ball to Chence Plattenburg for a 54- yard touchdown to make it 18-0.
Just before the half, Riley would pull the ball out the backdoor and scamper 45 yards for another touchdown. In the third quarter Plattenburg scored his second touchdown of the day on a reverse from 46 yards out. That boosted the score to 32-8 in favor of the Rabbs.
Kayden Linwood and Toddy Webster both added nice runs. Riley added 15 tackles on defense. Dylan Phillips and Luke Martin were defensive standouts. Eddie Brewer recovered a fumble for the Rabbs.
8A
The Rabbs’ 8A team fell to a talented Gilmer team.
Markelyin Batton rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns and teammate Jamarion Austin added 156 yards and two touchdowns for the Rabbs. Defensive standouts were Batton, Kheaton Kinney and Asher Wells.

Atlanta dominates Leopards in seventh and eighth grade football action
Seventh grade Rabbs 36 L-E 14
The seventh grade Rabbs started the game with an onside kick recovery to set up in L-E territory. Chence Plattenburg made a nice run of 15 yards on a jet sweep to put the Rabbs in business. Jayden Riley would do the rest taking the ball around the right end for a 35-yard touchdown run.
The Rabbs recovered another onside kick to set up once again in good field position. Riley broke a nice run of 35 yards inside the L-E 15.
Kayden Linwood ran it inside for a 7-yard gain setting up a 6-yard touchdown run by Riley.
L-E would get on the board on their next drive making it 12-6. It wouldn’t take long for the Rabbs to answer after nice runs of 20-plus yards from Plattenburg and Riley.
Linwood took it in from 11 yards out to finish the drive. Riley added the 2-point play and the Rabbs were up 19-6.
On the next L-E drive linebacker Luke Martin blitzed inside and knocked the ball loose, Plattenburg picked up the fumble and returned it 40 yards inside the red zone.
Two plays later Riley would add his third TD of the day from 11 yards out. Just before the half Riley would blow the game wide open on a nice 56 yard scamper for his fourth score of the first half to make it 36-8. The clock ran the entire second half as the Rabbs capped off an impressive game. Riley finished the day with 10 carries for 240 yards and four touchdowns.
Eighth grade Rabbs 40 L-E 8
The eighth grade Rabbs picked up the momentum left by the seventh graders from the first play.
The Rabbs marched right down the field on their first drive after a nice 20-plus yard run by Jamarion Austin.
Markeylin Batton finished the drive off with a 7-yard scamper to make the score 6-0 Rabbs.
After a nice defensive stop the Rabbs scored again quickly on a nice 40-yard strike from Easton Owens to Asher Wells, but a holding call would negate the TD.
Three-plus plays later Owens picked up a bad snap and found Peyton Harrison wide open from 26 yards out for a TD.
In the second quarter L-E drove the ball into Rabb territory but it was short lived, Braylen Rowe intercepted a Leopard pass and returned it 88 yards for a Rabbs’ TD.
Atlanta went up 20-0 as Batton added the two points.
Later in the quarter the Rabbs would get their second pick six of the game after a QB pressure from Wells caused a bad throw and Batton took it 96 yards to pay dirt untouched.
Austin added the 2-point play and Atlanta was up 28-0.
On the ensuing kickoff Harrison recovered the onside kick from Juan Campos. Two plays later, Batton would cut and juke and

That boosted the Rabbs’ lead to 34-0.
Early in the third quarter Austin exploded around the right end for another Rabbit touchdown from 40 yards out to make it 40-0.
Batton also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score which was negated for a block in the back.
The clock ran the entire second half.
Austin finished with 111 yards on eight carries and Batton added 67 yards. Owens finished 4-for-6 passing for 55 yards and a score.
Defensive standouts on the night were Luke Martin, Dylan Phillips, Decarvea Range, Landon “Boosie” Johnson, Sye Stroman and Brandon Edwards.
