New LEDC assistant brings youthful perspective

While most high school seniors spend their after-school hours working at the local fast food place or hanging out with friends, one student is doing something different.

Rowan Carter, a senior at Linden-Kildare High School, wants to make a difference and lead by example. That is why, when the position of Executive Assistant for the Linden Economic Development Corporation became available, he threw his name in the hat.

Unlike other jobs, he says this position has more “oomph” to it and gives him the opportunity to help out his hometown. The LEDC and Executive Director Christophe Trahan are also both familiar faces to him as Carter’s mother, Leesa Carter, is the owner of The Gingerbread House, a small business bakery in Linden.

As for what Carter wants to be when he “grows up?”, the teen says he isn’t sure just yet. He does enjoy both politics and computers and does freelance computer work on the side. For now, he just wants to show other teens that there can be a life inside the small town one grows up in.

In his free time, Carter enjoys computer gaming, game design and art. He looks forward to being able to help his small hometown to grow and prosper.
