Human Nature
It’s human nature to dwell on things that have caused us great pain, or heartache. We can’t get past what someone said about us or wronged us.
We walk in despair, hurt, anger, or “unforgiveness.”
One of the hardest things for someone to do is to forgive another for hurting them and Christians also fall into this snare.
Jesus said if we don’t forgive others their trespasses, then the Father will not forgive us of ours.
If we continue to walk in hurt, anger, “upsetness,” etc., it will take deeper root in our heart and more lusts of the flesh will grow from it.
Before long, bitterness, resentment, hatred, will spring forth, and grow out of control. We don’t have to “think” on things that bring us down, we can choose to “think” on good things.
Paul said, “Be ye transformed (metamorphose), by the renewing of your mind” in Romans 12:2.
Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, what so ever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
We cannot rejoice in the Lord as Paul said if we continue to “walk in the flesh.”
Christians should be the happiest people on earth. Our sins are forgiven, we are washed in the blood of Jesus, and we are born again of the Spirit.
The wrath of God that dwelt on us at one time is now replaced with the peace of God.
Jesus is coming back to take us home with Him.
So why do we continue to walk with our head hanging down? Why are we discouraged, upset, defeated, as if our Father God is no one in particular?
We have the Creator of the universe on our side. He longs to have fellowship with His creation.
It is not His will for us to be discouraged, downhearted, hurt, and angry.
But to walk in the joy of the Lord, and the peace that passes all human understanding. Forget those things that are behind.
Forget who said or did what. Forgive and forget.
Ask Jesus to bring healing to your hearts and minds, bind up wounds, heartaches.
Ask Him to search your heart for any hidden sins that is keeping you from walking in His joy and peace....God bless.
