Local restaurant burglarized
An unidentified person broke into the Burger King in Atlanta through a drive-thru window early Saturday morning and left with more than $1,200.
Cora Ogburn, a manager for the establishment said the crime occurred at 12:54 a.m. Saturday and was caught on the restaurant’s security camera approximately 50 minutes after the restaurant had closed for the night.
“From the looks of it, he had something to bust the second drive-thru window open with. It looked like he put something on there and it just shattered”, Ogburn said.
According to Ogburn, once inside the restaurant, the unidentified person took out a “welding tool” from his backpack and used it to gain entry to the restaurant’s safe.
The person can be seen on video wearing a hoodie, full ski mask and gloves and appeared to have arrived on foot from the woods behind the restaurant and left the same way.
Police were seen taping off the area around the restaurant Saturday morning after the restaurant had reopened.
The Journal-Sun has reached out to the Atlanta Police Department and is awaiting further details about this incident.
