Daughters of the American Revolution presents youth awards
Each year the Trammel’s Trace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution solicits nominations from area teachers in order to choose students who best exemplify characteristics of leadership, dependability, and patriotism.
From these nominations, one eighth-grade student from each area middle school is chosen to receive the DAR Youth Citizenship Award.
Aurelia Giesler of Atlanta Middle School was presented this award on May 28 at the Atlanta Middle School eighth-grade ceremony by DAR member Louella Vernon.
On May 8, this award was presented to Mallori Stringer at the Morris Upchurch Middle School eighth-grade ceremony.
Eli Brown of Bloomburg received this award on June 4 at the Bloomburg eighth-grade ceremony from DAR members Traci Jones and Charlotte Evans.
For more than a century, members of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to historic preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavor.
