VFW Post 6968 grand reopening
As the states began to open back up, bars were finally given the green light to tap the kegs and fire up their jukeboxes. Under the light of the ubiquitous neon glow, Linden VFW Post 6968 celebrated its grand reopening on Monday, June 22. Indeed the post did wait until they were able to host a larger crowd, which also gave those who have been working diligently to remodel it a chance to continue those improvements.
While the post is not fully where Post Commander Jered Graham envisions it to be, the improvements made have garnered many cheers from those who remember the post of the past. It was more than just a fresh coat of paint. A new bar top has also been installed as well as memorabilia donated from all branches, a memorial table to POWs and those who are MIA.
The post is also celebrating a happy hour from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. with one dollar off of all drinks.
Due to a recent spike in the numbers of cases of Covid-19, Governor Greg Abbott declared that all bars were to shut their doors at noon on Friday, June 26. Post 6968 will remain closed but continue to make improvements during this time.
