A Lion’s Club simple banquet

The Lion’s Club annual banquet is an affair to remember--a time to dress their best and celebrate each other’s accomplishments. This year due to the cancelation of everything because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to host their banquet. That did not pause the club’s meeting on Thursday, June 25, in a socially-distanced manner where they handed out plaques to newly-appointed officers. It should also be noted that under normal circumstances, newly appointed officers would be given pins for their gold vests. However, with Lion’s Club International offices closed for the time, pins were unavailable.

Lion Mary Dowd took the time to make personalized plaques for each officer and a special one for newly appointed president Luci Trahan. The plaques hold a very special meaning, with each having a key placed upon it. Lion President Trahan was presented with a plaque that has a lock placed upon it. As Lion Dowd explains, “Each member is the key to unlocking the president’s potential.”

Lion President Trahan says they are entertaining the idea of possibly having a full banquet later in the year, but have not decided fully yet. Meetings have resumed at the County Seat in the larger meeting room so that those in attendance may social distance responsibly. Meetings are every Thursday beginning at noon promptly.
