Linden Library grand reopening
With many shops and local eateries beginning to reopen, it is no surprise that many are itching to get out and visit all of their favorite places. One place, in particular, has been receiving many calls about when they will open their doors and new librarian, Denise Haas, at the Linden Public Library is more than delighted.
Originally from Florida, Haas made a bold move at 18 to Alaska where she lived for many years with her husband, but when those cold winter nights became frosty, she picked up a map and turned to Texas. With eyes closed, it was by pure luck that her finger landed on Linden.
In December, they made the move here permanent. It was her love of books, reading, and learning that drew her to the job of local librarian and the ladies of the Friends of the Library have been more than happy to help her with the ins and outs of her new position.
Before the grand reopening, she says they have been working on finding out what residents want to read, getting in new books, doing away with old, over-read ones, and just making sure they keep their readers happy and interested.
They do still have a computer system for public use and their genealogy room is full of useful information for tracing one’s family history.
If this seems overwhelming, the ladies of the Friends of the Library, who maintain the room are always more than happy to help.
There will also be new hours including two nights of being open until 8 p.m. and open until 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
She also says that if anyone wants to have a function that she is more than happy to open for it during non-business hours.
The grand reopening for the Linden Public Library will be held on June 20 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature hot dogs and door prizes as well as many other wonderful and fun activities.
