A Memorial

Memorial Day - A holiday honoring the men and women who died while serving in the Military.

A day of remembrance. As we honor those who served our country, and died in the wars, I also want to bring to mind those who served In Gods military, those who served God faithfully.

Men and women in the Bible, the Old and New Testament Saints, who stood strong in adversity, and served God till the end. A memorial to the Faithful.

The Faithful, who obeyed God regardless of what men said.

The Faithful who wasn’t carried about with every wind of doctrine, but held on to the Truth.

The Faithful who didn’t fall by the wayside, but endure until the end.

The Faithful who trusted God, and knew he was their protector, helper, and provider.

Hebrews the 11th chapter is known as the faith chapter, people who were faithful or full of faith!

We read about Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham.

Faithful Daniel, who stood strong when faced with the lion’s den. Jeremiah who was cast into the dungeon, but still proclaimed the word of the Lord, Joseph was cast into prison in Egypt, and yet when he rose to the top with pharaoh he never forgot the God of his fathers.

The three Hebrew boys who would rather die in the fiery furnace than bow to a false god.

Moses, wandering in the wilderness with the children of Israel, still faithful to God even when he was told he would not be able to enter the promised land. Paul facing execution, declared, “I’ve run the race, I have finished my course, I’m ready to be offered.”

These all had the testimony that they pleased God.

Hebrews 11:13--These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

V.16.--But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly, wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God for he has prepared for them a city.

The faithful, who subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, but of weakness were made strong, became valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Some were raised from the dead, some were tortured, some endured cruel mockings, and scourgings.

Some were cast into prison, others were stoned to death, cut asunder, killed with the sword, destitute, afflicted, tormented, wandered in deserts and mountains, hid out in caves....But God was not ashamed to be called their God!

Remember the Faithful that has gone on before us, they are our clouds of Witness!

God bless!
