Cass County company to lay off 55 people

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, U.S. Steel Tubular Products in Hughes Springs notified it of the layoffs on May 1^st.

Companies are required by state law to file Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices with the TWC to announce pending layoffs or workforce adjustments.

According to the Associated Press, The U.S. unemployment rate hit 14.7% in April, the highest rate since the Great Depression, as 20.5 million jobs vanished in the worst monthly loss on record.
