Water, sewer, street repairs
During this time of shelter in place, many are taking advantage of this time to complete projects around the home. Cleaning out closets, repairs, yard work, and many other tasks that, before this unprecedented time, were placed on hold due to work, school, and everyday life. Indeed, it is with this slowing down of daily traffic that has proven to be very beneficial to those who maintain Linden’s water lines, sewer lines, and streets.
With less traffic on the streets, those who maintain these critical parts of the city’s infrastructure have, according to City Manager Bob Swisher, been able to repair all reported water leaks for the first time since 2015. Their next goal is to handle repairs to the sewer lines, however, that is dependent on the weather.
Another goal of the city is to make bigger repairs to the streets as the ground dries. The city has also hired an additional person for their street repair department in order to help with the major repairs being done. Swisher would like to see all of the needed street work done in house by the street department and will be looking at technologies geared towards small towns to aid in this goal. The end result would be new, safe streets for residents while not changing the face of Linden.
As repairs are being made around town, please be aware of those working to improve the city. They are a critical part of the workings of Linden.
