Atlanta Middle School Track

Atlanta’s middle school track teams have been busy since the end of February.

Feb. 27, the middle school boys ran in the Texas Middle School Invitational along with competitors from Hallsville, host Texas High, L-E, Marshall and PG.

7th Grade Boys

In the 100m dash Derrick Talton placed sixth at 13.64; Braylen Rowe placed fifth at 27.81 in the 200m dash; Will Davis placed first in the 800m run at 2:37.08 and Sye Stroman placed sixth at 2:49.62; Ethan Scott placed fifth in the 1600m run at 6:16.87; Davis placed first at 9:23.00 and Juan Campos second at 9:33.00 in the 2400m run and Peyton Harrison placed sixth at 21.02 in the 110m hurdles.

The 4x100m relay team of Markelyin Batton, Asher Wells, Rowe and Brandon Edwards placed third at 50.96; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed fifth at 1:54.28 and the 4x400m relay team of Batton, Wells, Quinten Shepherd and Davis placed third at 4:29.31.

Batton placed third in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 10 1/2 inches; Rowe placed third at 4 feet, 8 inches and Edwards fifth at 4 feet, 8 inches in the high jump; Kheaton Kinney placed first in shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 3 1/2 inches and Kinney placed fourth at 73 feet, 5 inches and Wells fifth at 72 feet, 7 1/2 inches in the discus.

8th Grade Boys

Cooper Swanson placed fifth in the 100m dash at 12.48; Xavion Johnson placed fourth at 1:01.92 in the 400m dash and first in the 800m run at 2:20.23; in the 100m hurdles Jalarrion Andrews placed fifth at 20.03 and Izaiah Black sixth at 20.05 and in the 300m hurdles Marquavion Owens placed fifth at 51.06 and Carmello Henderson placed sixth at 52.24.

The 4x100m relay team of Owens, Larandion Dowden, Dimoree Limbrick and Swanson placed third at 48.83; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed third at 1:45.31 and the 4x400m relay team of Dowden, Limbrick, Johnson and Fernando Olalde placed fifth at 4:18.72.

In the long jump event Dowden placed fifth with a mark of 16 feet, 3 inches; Owens placed third at 34 feet, 8 inches and Swanson fifth at 34 feet, 4 inches in the triple jump and in the high jump Limbrick placed second with a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches.

Feb. 27, the middle school girls competed in the Liberty-Eylau meet.

7th Grade Girls

The seventh grade girls placed fourth overall in a field that included Hallsville, host L-E, Pleasant Grove, Texas High, Marshall and Redwater.

In the 200m dash Carlajah Adger placed first with a time of 29.07 and she also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 8 inches; in the 800m run Aysia Heard placed fifth at 2:58.72 and Anna Davis placed sixth at 3:00.81 and Kierra Young placed second at 19.31 in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles at 58.89.

The relay teams did well as the 4x100m relay team of Serenity Duckett, Zariah Johnson, Autumn Walker and Adger placed first at 55.01; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed first at 2:00.35 and the 4x400m relay team of Princess Peters, Heard, Amelia Jones and Chantoya Hurd placed third with a time of 5:09.52.

8th Grade Girls

The eighth grade girls placed third overall behind strong teams from Texas High and Hallsville.

In the 100m dash Kalissa Reliford placed third at 14.19 and Amori Shelling placed sixth at 14.36; in the 1600m run Kendall Fant was second at 6:20.19 and Aurelia Geisler placed fifth at 6:43.30; in the 2400m run Fant placed second at 9:56.17 and Geisler fifth at 10:50.47; Kinlee Hamilton placed first in the 100m hurdles at 18.50 and in the 300m hurdles Hamilton placed sixth at 1:04.11.

The 4x100m relay team of Jadeya Larry, Makaylin King, Reliford and Kym Sheppard placed second at 54.64; the 4x200m relay team of Larry, King, Sheppard and Laken Bush placed second at 1:57.73 and the 4x400m relay team of Larry, King, Reliford and Bush placed third at 4:58.20.

In the long jump Sheppard placed first with a leap of 14 feet, 7 inches and King placed fifth at 13 feet, 5 inches; Sheppard placed first in triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 2 inches and Reliford placed fourth at 28 feet, 6 inches; Catlin Bailey placed fourth in high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches; Stacy nelson placed third in shot put with a heave of 31 feet, 2 inches and Chanya Clark placed fifth with a mark of 30 feet, 5 inches and in discus Clark placed fifth with a mark of 67 feet,10 inches.

Mar. 3, the middle school boys competed in the L-E Middle School Boys Relays and both squads did very well.

7th Grade Boys

The seventh grade boys racked up 186.5 points and placed second behind only Texas High. They finished ahead of PG, L-E, Hallsville, Marshall and Redwater and only missed out on winning by seven points.

In the 100m dash Derrick Talton placed fourth at 13.65 and Brandon Edwards sixth at 13.90; in the 200m dash Braylen Rowe placed second at 26.86 and Edwards placed fifth at 29.08; in the 400m dash Quinten Shepherd placed second at 1:04.44 and Talton placed fifth at 1:06.27; in the 800m run Shepherd placed first at 2:35.80 and Will Davis placed second at 2:35.81; in the 1600m run Juan Campos placed second at 5:59.35 and Ethan Scott placed third at 6:12.23; in the 2400m run Davis placed first at 9:09.37 and Campos fourth at 9:30.91; in the 100m hurdles Easton Owens placed fourth at 20.94 and Decarvea Range placed sixth at 22.17; in the 300m hurdles Owens placed fourth at 52.56 and Marquaviuos Richardson placed fifth at 53.45 and the 4x400m relay team of Markelyin Batton, Asher Wells, Jamarion Austin and Davis placed first at 4:26.07.

Batton placed second in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet,1 inch and Austin placed third with a leap of 16 feet even; in shot put Kheaton Kinney placed first with a toss of 39 feet, 2 inches, Taiwon Henderson placed fourth at 29 feet, 8 3/4 inches and Chris Hale placed sixth at 29 feet, 3 inches; in discus Kinney placed second at 83 feet, 6 1/2 inches and Peyton Gaston fifth at 67 feet, 2 3/4 inches; in triple jump Batton placed first at 31 feet,1 inch, Owens placed fourth at 28 feet, 7 inches and Peyton Harrison placed fifth at 28 feet, 4 inches; in the high jump event Austin placed first at 5 feet, Rowe fourth at 4 feet, 10 inches and Edwards sixth at 4 feet, 8 inches and in the pole vault Sye Stroman placed first at 7 feet, 6 inches and Ethan Scott placed second at 6 feet, 6 inches.

8th Grade Boys

The eighth grade boys placed second behind PG.

Cooper Swanson placed third in the 100m dash at 12.49; Jalarrion Andrews placed sixth at 27.70 in the 200m dash; Xavion Johnson placed second in the 400m dash at 1:01.62 and Fernando Olalde placed fifth at 1:04.03; in the 800m run Johnson placed first at 2:26.03 and Will Woodruff fifth at 2:35.72; in the 1600m run Andrew Allen placed third at 5:55.30 and Woodruff placed sixth at 6:08.77; Allen placed fourth in the 2400m run at 9:05.34; in the 110m hurdles Marquavion Owens placed fourth at 20.31 and Andrews placed sixth at 20.96 and in the 300m hurdles Owens placed third at 50.50, Will Wilcox placed fourth at 50.84 and Carmello Henderson placed fifth at 51.27.

All three relay teams did well as the 4x100m relay team of Eli Riojas, Larandion Dowden, Dimoree Limbrick and Swanson placed first at 48.32; the 4x200m relay team of Owens, Riojas, Dowden and Swanson placed first at 1:42.43 and the 4x400m relay team of Riojas, Dowden, Johnson and Limbrick placed second at 4:01.65.

In the long jump event Dowden placed third at 16 feet, 7 1/4 inches and Owens placed fifth at 15 feet, 9 1/2 inches; in discus Wesley Kennedy placed fifth at 79 feet, 6 3/4 inches; in triple jump Owens placed second with a mark of 34 feet, 4 inches and Limbrick placed fifth at 32 feet, 4 inches; in high jump Limbrick placed second at 5 feet, 6 inches and Dowden placed sixth at 5 feet, 2 inches and in pole vault Chris Swanson placed third at 8 feet and both Cooper Swanson and Josiah Hunt placed fifth with marks of 6 feet even.

Mar. 3, the middle school girls competed in the Texas Middle School Invitational.

7th Grade Girls

The seventh grade girls placed third behind L-E and PG.

In the 100m dash Chantoya Hurd placed fourth with a time of 13.87; in the 200m dash Carlajah Adger placed first at 27.63 and Autumn Walker fifth at 29.61; in the 400m dash Princess Peters placed third at 1:10.54 and Aysia Heard placed sixth at 1:14.28; in the 100m hurdles Kierra Young placed second at 18.68 and Amelia Jones fifth at 19.90; in the 300m hurdles Elliana Edwards placed second at 55.96 and Emma Riojas sixth at 59.65 and in the 800m run Heard placed second at 2:51.55 and Anna Davis third at 2:52.41.

The 4x100m relay team of Walker, Zariah Johnson, Serenity Duckett and Adger placed first at 53.47; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed first at 1:56.62 and the 4x400m relay team of Peters, Jones, Hurd and Heard placed fourth at 5:02.47.

In the triple jump event Adger placed second at 29 feet even and she placed first in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet even; Ariyah Patterson placed fourth in discus with a mark of 59 feet, 1/2 inch and sixth in shot put with a mark of 25 feet, 6 inches.

8th Grade Girls

The eighth grade girls racked up 17 points and placed second only behind Texas High.

In the 200m dash Kym Sheppard placed fourth at 28.95; Tanijah Young placed fourth in the 400m dash at 1:12.57; Kinlee Hamilton placed fifth in the 100m hurdles at 21.08 and third in the 300m hurdles at 1:00.70 while teammates Emma Lanier and Kara Carnley placed 5-6 with times of 1:04.63 and 1:05.72 respectively.

In the 800m run Annemarie Hanner placed second at 3:03.34; in the 1600m run Kendall Fant placed second at 6:22.77 and Aurelia Geisler placed third at 7:01.12; Geisler placed third at 10:56.00 and Olivia Allen fourth at 11:30.00 in the 2400m run; the 4x100m relay team of Sheppard, Kalissa Reliford, Jadeyah Larry and Makaylin King placed second at 53.89, the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed first at 1:57.30 and the 4x400m relay team of Tanijah Young, Reliford, Larry and King placed third at 4:59.69.

Atlanta finished 1-2-3 in shot put as Stacy Nelson placed first with a toss of 31 feet,10 inches, Chanya Clark placed second at 28 feet, 6 inches and Anessa Smith placed third at 28 feet, 1 inch; Clark placed first in discus with a toss of 89 feet, 2 1/2 inches; Sheppard placed first in the long jump at 14 feet, 6 1/2 inches and Larry third at 13 feet, 1 1/2 inches; Sheppard placed first in the triple jump at 30 feet, 6 1/2 inches, Reliford placed third at 27 feet, 3 inches and King placed fourth at 26 feet, 9 inches, and in the high jump Catlin Bailey placed second with a mark of 4 feet, 10 inches.
