Queen City track takes part in Sibley Brahma Relays
Queen City’s track program competed in the Sibley Brahma Relays at Pewitt Mar. 6.
The varsity boys placed third overall in a crowded field which included teams from Hughes Springs, host Pewitt, Redwater, DeKalb, Pittsburg, James Bowie, Chapel Hill, Linden-Kildare, New Boston, Hooks and Maud.
The varsity girls placed third overall and the JV boys placed fifth. For both the varsity boys and varsity girls the Bulldogs were just a few points from securing second place finishes.
Varsity Boys
Mannasseh Drayton placed fifth in the 100m dash at 11:44, placed third in the 200m dash at 23.91 and placed second in the 400m dash at 54.66.
Steven Stone placed fifth with a time of 2:17.84 in the 800m run, the 4x100m relay team of Caleb Dawson, T’Angelo Neal, Josh Davis and Adorian Booth placed third at 46.21, the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed second at 1:37.00 and the 4x400m relay team of Neal, Davis, Kyle Campbell and Spencer Warren placed third at 3:56.62.
In the long jump event Dawson placed fifth with a leap of 18 feet, 9 1/2 inches and Neal placed sixth at 18 feet, 4 inches; in the shot put Christian Fitzgerald placed fifth with a toss of 40 feet, 8 inches; in the triple jump Neal placed second with a mark of 40 feet, 11 inches and Dawson placed sixth at 39 feet, 1/2 inch; Davis placed third in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches and in the pole vault Warren placed second with a mark of 11 feet, 6 inches, Stone placed third at 10 feet, 8 inches and Joel Up-church placed fifth at 9 feet, 6 inches.
Varsity Girls
In the 200m dash Nyla Harrison placed third at 28.50 and Cassidy Johnson placed sixth at 29.71; the 4x100m relay team of Ivory Larry, Johnson, Harrison and Emma Baker placed second at 51.66 and the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed second at 1:51.44.
In the long jump Larry placed fourth with a leap of 15 feet, 3 inches and Baker placed fifth at 14 feet, 9 1/2 inches; Chyna Stiger placed first in shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 6 inches and first in discus with a toss of 96 feet, 11 inches; Madison Dunn placed fourth in discus with a mark of 87 feet, 7 inches and Ja’laysha Johnson placed fifth with a toss of 86 feet, 9 inches and in the triple jump event Harrison placed second with a mark of 34 feet, 2 1/2 inches and Cassidy Johnson placed fourth with a mark of 33 feet even.
Queen City’s track program will compete in the Bill Hines Relays at L-K high School Thursday Mar. 19.
