LEDC Update
Our Small Business Workshop was extremely well attended last week! While we did fall a little short of my personal goal of 40 attendees, we still had a group of 37 awesome small business owners come out and hear what Tim Wilson of the Small Business Development Center [SBDC] had to say on business models, plans, and strategies.
I want to extend a personal “thank you” to each and every person who attended. I was so glad to see the business owners who I’ve had the opportunity to work with come out and learn more about how to make their individual dreams successful.
Plus, I got to meet some new faces as well which is always a great bonus! It made me so glad to see everyone diligently taking notes on the presentation and we had a similarly involved Q&A section afterward as well.
I’m also especially thankful to Mr. Wilson for coming out to speak to our group. The SBDC is a crucial source of information and guidance for small businesses in our area and it was a great privilege of ours to have them front and center with our business owners.
Just in case you didn’t know, this was the second in a series of quarterly small business workshops that the LEDC will be putting on over the coming year. Keep informed by reading the Cass County Sun and following us on FaceBook (@LindenEconDevCorps).
This series of workshops is one facet of the LED C’s overall strategy of business retention & expansion. It’s a coordinated effort on our part to ensure that our business owners have as much information at their fingertips as possible to succeed—thus not only retaining the businesses that we now have, but also assisting them as they continue grow and expand.
We’re also making great strides towards our strategy of business attraction as well. As mentioned previously, we’re continuing to work with Open Hearts, Children and Family Services as they work towards getting their new facility in Linden operational.
We’ve also been working another industrial business prospect that is currently working through a site selection of their own. While they still haven’t made a final decision in their selection process, I’m expecting a conclusion sometime in the near future. I’ll be detailing more information on this prospect in coming articles, but for now, just continue to pray for a favorable outcome.
Things are really moving for Linden now and based on what I’ve seen both in the “here and now” as well as on the horizon, I believe we’re on track for accomplishing a productive and prosperous first quarter of 2020.
