Dillinger places third in Beech Creek Tackle and Guide Service Showdown
Carson Dillinger made the trek to Sam Rayburn Reservior this past weekend to compete in the Beech Creek Tackle and Guide Service Showdown on Sam Rayburn.
The weather was beautiful with the lake seeing a warming trend from the cold front that had moved through earlier in the week.
With a full moon and warming temperatures the bass were starting to move into the shallow water to start the spawn.
Through his map study and research of recent lake trends Carson developed a plan of attack for the 8 1/2 hour tournament.
Twelve minutes in to the tournament Carson caught his first bass of the day.
He caught it on a red lipless crank bait. It was a 13 inch spotted bass off the rocks by the 147 bridge. Even though this wasn’t a keeper it was a clue to what would lead him to find a solid pattern.
After fishing this area for about 20 more minutes, Carson choose to move to a shallow flat that had partially submerged bushes.
This area proved to be the most productive area of the day.
Carson proceded to haul in eight keepers off this area in the next three hours.
He was able to cull two times improving his overall weight each time.
Carson was catching the bass on a combination of a vibrating jig and a 4D Fishing Swim Jig.
Later in the day the bite slowed down and he moved to three different spots and was able to catch one additional bass to upgrade his total weight once again.
This was a day were Carson saw all of the hard work that he has put into the sport pay off.
Carson went across the Ultimate High School Fishing stage with a 12.3 pounds bag of bass, which earned him a third place finish in the tournament.
The success continued when Carson won a drawing from the YouTube channel Fat Boy Fishing.
They drew his name as the winner of a 7 foot, 4 inch MH custom built rod from Bubba’s Custom Rods, a $200 value.
In addition to that Carson also won the contingency prize money from 4D Fishing for wearing a 4D Fishing hat on stage, mentioning 4D Fishing in the onstage interview, and finishing in the top three of the tournament.
