    Avery Whitlow dead lifts 250 pounds to win the 114-pound weight class at the FCA Deaundrea Mitchell totaled 680 pounds and placed third in the 220-pound class for Liftoff. the Atlanta Iron Powerlifting Team Saturday.

Atlanta Iron places second at FCA Liftoff hosted by Texas High

Atlanta Iron was back at work last Saturday at the FCA Liftoff hosted by Texas High. Atlanta was one point away from first place as they finished second overall but did finish ahead of host Texas High and others. Avery Whitlow placed first overall in the 114-pound weight class with a total of 600 pounds, Trey Adams placed first in the 220’s with a total of 1,420 and Cade Fant placed first in the 242’s with a total of 1,430. Deaundrea Mitchell placed third in her weight class with a total of 680 pounds lifted. Adrian Kennington placed fourth in the 148’s with a total of 815 pounds and Connor Samples placed fourth in the 220’s with a total of 1,135 pounds. Logan Shelton placed fifth in the 165’s with a total of 985 pounds lifted, Kentrel Andrews placed fifth in the 181’s with a total of 1,105 and Clay Fant placed fifth in the 220-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,120 pounds. Other top 10 finishes included Jordan Stiger 1,050 pounds (sixth place - 181’s), Isaiah Harrison 1,025 pounds (sixth place - 242’s), Ty Blizzard 1,105 pounds (seventh place - 220’s) and Jeremiah Jefferson 1,050 pounds (eighth place - 198’s). Other lifts included Deaundre Mitchell - 900 pounds, Brendan Clayton – 780 pounds, Brennan Gaston – 1,030 pounds, Carlos Cortes – 850 pounds, Amarian Thomas – 850 pounds, Carson Dillinger – 1,000 pounds, Morgan Bivins – 850 pounds and Hunter Dodson - 620 pounds. “We were excited about our improvements this week. Really proud of how hard this group is working,” said Head Coach Craig Fant. “Avery is the first guy in the weight room every morning. It was awesome to see him beat 10 guys and win his class.” Atlanta Iron will host its own meet the Atlanta Iron Invitational at 4:30 p.m. Monday Feb. 3, inside the Atlanta High School weightroom.
