Versus Maud

McLeod’s varsity boys’ basketball team visited Maud for a battle on the hardcourt and left town with a, 68-28, win. The Longhorns (20-2, 1-0) were up, 20-6, after one quarter of play and had a, 39-13, lead at the half. Keldyn Schubert led all scorers with 17 points and also had 10 assists and 10 rebounds; Trevor Deel added 14 points with 10 boards; Tyler Williams had 14 points and five assists and Silas Murdock had nine points and three rebounds. The JV team won, 37-21, over the Cardinals with Mason Teer pouring in nine points and Braden Parker seven. The Lady Longhorns also topped Maud by a score of, 37-18. Gracie lance had 11 points with 10 rebounds; Sibbie comer had 10 points with five boards; Kaitlyn Cross added seven points and Ella Lambeth four.

Versus James Bowie

Jan. 11, the Longhorns took on James Bowie and won its second district contest by dominating the Pirates, 73-31. After going up, 23-5, after the first quarter the ’Horns (21-2, 2-0) took a, 37-15, lead into the half. Trevor Deel scorched the nets for 29 points and 15 rebounds; Kobe Bonner added 15 points and Keldyn Schubert posted 18 assists. With the victory McLeod Head Coach Steven Lambeth notched his 300th career victory. The Lady Longhorns beat James Bowie, 56-20. The contest was decently close at the break with McLeod (20-6, 2-0) holding on to a, 20-13, lead but a, 26-0, Lady Longhorn run in the third shut the doors on the game. Kaitlyn Cross posted 16 points, Sibbie Comer 15 and Ella Lambeth 12.
