Atlanta Iron begins year off by lifting at Sulphur Springs

Atlanta Iron started out the year by competing in the Sulphur Springs Invitational Jan. 11.

The meet featured 300-plus lifters from 29 different schools.

Trey Adams turned in a solid score of 1,345 pounds lifted in the 220-pound weight class and finished second overall, and Cade Fant nailed down a total of 1,350 pounds in the 245’s and placed second overall as well.

Avery Whitlow placed seventh in the 114’s with a total lift of 540 pounds, Logan Shelton placed seventh in the 165’s after lifting a total of 1,005 pounds, Kentrell Andrews placed seventh in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 1,055 pounds, Noah Hunt placed seventh in the 242-pound class with a total of 1,005 pounds, Jeremiah Jefferson posted a total of 1,035 pounds in the 198’s for eighth place, Clay Fant placed eighth in the 220’s with a total of 1,025 pounds, Ty blizzard placed ninth in the 220’s after lifting 1,020 pounds and the lone female lifter DeAundrea Mitchell placed ninth in the 220’s with a total lift of 465 pounds.

Other Atlanta Iron scores were: Isaiah Harrison (940 pounds), DK Parker (995 pounds), Deandre Mitchell (910 pounds), Brennan Gaston (970 pounds), Carlos Cortes (820 pounds), Amarian Thomas (815 pounds), Morgan Bivins (890 pounds), Hunter Dodson (520 pounds), Brendan Clayton (665 pounds) and Adrian Kennington (745 pounds).

“Sulphur Springs runs a great opening weekend meet. It’s one of the largest in Texas and we got some good experience last Saturday and are off to a good start this season,” said Head Coach Craig Fant.

Atlanta Iron competes again Saturday, Jan. 18, in the FCA Liftoff at Texas High.
