Atlanta athletes earn Academic All-State honors

Cross Country and volleyball has wrapped up this season but a few Atlanta athletes earned Academic All-State honors.

Daniella Arredondo earned First Team honors for both cross country and volleyball, Candace Nuckels earned Second Team honors for volleyball and Zoe Ebarb earned Honorable Mention honors for volleyball.

Cameron Carney and Brant Rosser earned First Team honors for cross country and both Dagan Ward and Brody Childress earned Second Team honors for cross country.

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) and the Texas Army National Guard are huge supporters of Texas athletes.

The teams are selected by a point system that awards points for GPA, class rank and SAT or ACT score. The student/athletes or managers are then placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.

The Elite team represents the highest point total that can be achieved. Criteria required to be nominated is 1) must be a senior with an overall GPA of 92 or above, including grades 9-11 and the first six weeks of grade 12; 2) Be a member of the team in good standing at the time of nomination; 3) Be of good moral character.
