Bulldogs close out season at home against Pewitt

The Queen City Bulldogs finished their 2019 football season last Friday night with a home game against the Pewitt Brahmas.

Queen City fell in the previous week in the game against Waskom and Pewitt lost a close game to Daingerfield.

Queen City began the game on offense and was forced to punt on fourth-and-nine.

Pewitt took possession and quickly scored its first touchdown of the night on an 11-yard rush.

The Brahmas led 7-0 with 8:58 remaining in the opening quarter.

The Queen City offense came to life on the next drive as it drove the ball down to the Pewitt seven-yard line due to an eight-yard rush by Giles, a 34-yard pass from Dylan Scott to Drake Moore, and a 13-yard pass from Scott to Jeremiah Drayton.

The Bulldogs were eventually forced to turn the ball over on downs, however.

Pewitt’s offense capitalized on the turnover by marching down the field for its second touchdown of the game, this time on a 20-yard run.

The PAT was blocked by Spencer Warren and Pewitt stretched its lead to 13 points.

After the next kickoff, the Bulldogs began their drive with a six-yard pickup from Drayton, and Scott completed passes to Caleb Dawson and Jeremiah Davis.

On first down and 10 from the Pewitt 17-yard line, Scott took the snap and rushed into the end zone for a touchdown.

The two point conversion was unsuccessful and Queen City trailed 13-6 early in the second quarter.

The Brahmas responded to the Queen City touchdown with three touchdowns of their own in the second quarter to take a 42-6 halftime lead.

Pewitt opened the third quarter with a 47-yard touchdown run and went on to score two additional touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Queen City’s offense ended the game with a touchdown as Scott found Dawson in the end zone for an impressive catch.

Scott remained on the field as the kicker for the succesful PAT and the game ended with a final score of Queen City 13 and Pewitt 61.
